Joseph Constance Rayan of Gustine passed away June 28.
He was 91.
Mr. Rayan was a native of Mexico, and had lived in Gustine for nearly 70 years.
He was a machine operator for 35 years, working at the Carnation Company in Gustine.
Mr. Rayan was a U.S. Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, serving from 1942-45.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Newman and belonged to the Orestimba 50-Plus Club. His hobbies included woodworking and gardening, and he was also an avid fisherman and hunter.
Mr. Rayan is survived by a son, Joe Rayan of Hollister; two daughters, Karen Barber of Napa and Connie Wilsdon of Arizona; two brothers, Manuel Martinez of Santa Barbara and Rueben Martinez of Gilroy; a sister, Mary Ellen Pitts of Redding; six grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Eleanor Rayan; and a grandson, both in 1991.
Visitation will be Friday, July 5, at 9 a.m. at Hillview Funeral Chapel, Gustine, followed by a funeral service at 10.
Interment will be in Hills Ferry Cemetery.
