Donald Roy Wright of Gustine passed away July 2 at 82 years of age.
Mr. Wright was a native of Pacific Grove.
He was a firefighter for 25 years, and retired as fire chief of the Monterey Airport.
Mr. Wright was a U.S. Navy veteran of 10 years who served during the Korean War.
He was a resident of Gustine for 25 years.
Mr. Wright was a parishioner at the Shrine of Our Lady of Miracles, and was a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus.
He belonged to Lions Club International, and served as Governor in 1988-89.
Mr. Wright was a member of the California Fire Chiefs of the Monterey Bay Area.
He is survived by a son, Steven R. Wright of Hawaii; a daughter, Dona Wright of Seaside; a sister, Virginia Wright of Pacific Grove, five grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Sue Wright; and a sister, Phyllis Jean Brown.
A celebration of life was held July 7 at the Green Acres Mobile Home Park social hall.
Graveside services with military honors will be held at 12:30 p.m. Friday, July 18, in San Joaquin Valley National Cemetery.
