Maria A. Costa of Newman passed away May 21 at 91 years of age.
Mrs. Costa was born in Sao Miguel, the Azores, and was a resident of Newman for 35 years. She previously lived in Gustine.
She was a homemaker.
Mrs. Costa was a parishioner at the Shrine of Our Lady of Miracles, and belonged to the Our Lady of Miracles Society.
She enjoyed cooking, sewing, gardening and her animals, and loved spending time with her grandchildren.
Mrs. Costa is survived by a son, Tony Costa of Newman; two daughters, Maria Camara of Gustine and Lucy Machado of Turlock; a brother, Manuel Faria of Canada; and four grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Antonio Da Costa, who passed away in 1985.
A mass of Christian burial was held Wednesday at the Shrine of Our Lady of Miracles. Interment was in Hills Ferry Cemetery.
Hillview Funeral Chapel was in charge of arrangements.
