Obituary: Lorraine Telles

Lorraine Helen Telles, 88, of Stevinson passed away April 19.

Mrs. Telles was born in Massachusetts.

She had lived in Stevinson for two years. Mrs. Telles previously resided in Newman, Gustine and Modesto.

She had a passion for cooking, and her table was always filled with food and surrounded by loving family. Her specialties included filhos, a traditional Portuguese treat.

Mrs. Telles was also known for her love of animals, her generosity, and her hard work. She held as many as three jobs in her younger years to provide for her children.

She enjoyed making afghans, often as she watched the San Francisco 49ers play on television.

She is survived by her children, Frank (Margaret) Silva, Elaine (Ronald) Varnell, Alfred Silva, Anthony (Martha) Silva, Kim (Adalberto Sr.) Aguiar, Dan (Cathy) Silva and Rosemarie Telles; three sisters, Angie Bento and Gloria Barcellos, both of Gustine and Lucy Downey of Los Banos; 20 grandchildren, 33 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.

She was preceded in death by her mother, Constance Sousa; her father, Manuel Pacheco, her first husband, Frank Silva; her second husband, William Telles; three brothers, Manuel, Arthur and Joe Pacheco; and a granddaughter.

A memorial service will be held Tuesday, April 29, at 10 a.m. at Hillview Funeral Chapel, Gustine. Interment will follow in Hills Ferry Cemetery.
